The Oquirrh Mountain Symphony (OMS) presents “Spotlight Spectacular Encore” on Friday, May 21st, at Elk Ridge Middle School (3659 W. 9800 S.) at 7:30pm. The performance will feature the winners of the RMO’s 6th Annual Concerto Competition: Whitney Pizza (piano), Brenden McQuay (tuba), David Horton (piano) and Alexis Ericksen (violin). Refreshments will be served immediately following the performance.

Brenden McQuay

Brenden McQuay is currently a senior at BYU, majoring in Tuba Performance. He is a student of Dr. Steve Call.

In 2010 Brenden was a winner in BYU’s Concerto Competition and was Principal Tuba in the BYU Wind Symphony. From fall 2009 to winter 2010 Brenden played in BYU’s Honors Brass Quintet and was Principal Tuba for the BYU Philharmonic in fall 2009. He has been featured as a soloist with the UVU Orchestra and the Utah Premiere Brass. In June 2008, Brenden placed as a semifinalist in the Young Artist Solo Tuba Competition at the International Tuba Euphonium Conference in Cincinnati. At BYU, Brenden has also performed in the Cougar Marching Band, Symphonic Band, and Symphony Orchestra. Brenden is currently a member of the Utah Premiere Brass.
