Whitney Wasden

Whitney Wasden began playing the piano at age six in Japan. Over the years, she studied with many talented teachers who each shared their love of music with her.

She completed the Weber State University Piano Preparatory Program where she studied with Laurisa Ward Cope and Dr. Yu-Jane Yang. Whitney has continued studying with Dr. Yu-Jane Yang at Weber State University and is now pursuing a Piano Pedagogy major. This past semester, she also studied with Dr. Ralph van der Beek at Weber State University.

Whitney has been awarded many full academic and piano scholarships. Whitney is a member of the Golden Key Honors Society and the Music Teacher’s National Association (MTNA). She serves as Co-Vice President for the “Treblemakers” club, the WSU collegiate chapter of MTNA. As a college student, she also loves traveling to attend the MTNA National Conference. At the last conference in March, Whitney and her colleagues in pedagogy from WSU were even chosen to present a session on Group Teaching.

A full time student, Whitney teaches at both her private studio and the Weber State University Preparatory Program. Her dream is to continue her studies in piano pedagogy at graduate school after finishing her major. Whitney loves to sing and is a member of the WSU Chamber Choir. In her spare time she enjoys composing, reading, cooking, sewing, scrapbooking and fishing.
